Genetic diversity allows the Ecuadorian Amazon to be one of the richest biological areas and most complex in the world. Hundreds of species of birds, reptiles and insects live in the forest among a remarkable number of plants and trees. The attractive rivers and lakes crisscross through the forest where human presence is virtually non-existent and are a perfect place for an unimaginable trip.
The Amazon region is home to a wide variety of species, many of which have not been discovered yet. Toucans, parrots, monkeys, crocodiles, pink dolphins and more than a hundred species of butterflies and insects exist in an incredible biodiversity of plants. The complex system of rivers begins from the peaks to the west of the Andes and down into the Amazon basin. Many of these rivers are navigable, allowing visitors to explore the depths of the rainforest. Fortunately, the tourist infrastructure has been developed in accordance with this fragile environment and keeps in mind to preserve this unique place and essential to our planet. The forest is also the dwelling place millennia tribes like the Secoya, Cofan, Huaranis, Siona, Quichua, Shuar and Achuar, many of them try to keep a primitive lifestyle as customs and celebrations, clothes, houses, food, natural medicine.
The climate of tropical rainforests is usually hot and humid but rarely unbearable because of shade under the rainforest canopy and showers that regularly cool down the climate. The average temperature is 26°C/78,8°F. The Yasuni National Park is located between the provinces Napo and Pastaza and is located near the town Coca, down the Napo River. Napo River is the principal Amazon artery for tourism, a major tributary of the main Amazon River.Discover this unique and amazing place and join one of our tours in our luxury La Selva Jungle lodge.
